Vision Statement

Inspired by the wisdom of Mary MacKillop, we value:

*        A learning environment that makes the best use of available resources and structures, supports full student participation and a broad range of programs

*        A broad, varied and relevant curriculum, which caters for the needs of each child, best teaching practice and the on-going professional learning for all staff.

*        Individual reflection on personal, social, spiritual and academic growth.

*        An effective and life-giving partnership with families, Our Lady Help of Christians’ Parish and the wider community.

*        The ideals and purposes common to Our Lady Help of Christians’ Parish and Mary MacKillop Primary School.

*        Each person as created in God’s image, unique and individual, inherently good, spiritual and with the ability to exercise free will.

*        Our membership of the Catholic Community, our call to develop a meaningful relationship with God, Gospel values and an environment where the presence of God is recognized, experienced and celebrated.

*        Learning as a lifelong process that involves the development of the whole person as spirit-filled, tolerant, informed, highly skilled, open and just.

*        Learning that is challenging, developmental and reflects a variety of learning styles.

*        Relationships because they are at the center of all human growth activity.

*        Effective relationships where students, staff and parents have the opportunity to identify themselves as competent, responsible, independent, connected, fun loving and free.

*        Independent and responsible thinking and decision making for the common good.

Mission

The mission of Mary MacKillop Primary School is to achieve this vision by addressing the priorities and goals of our strategic plan. These priorities and goals will be implemented through the establishment of specific projects. Our mission will be reviewed on an annual basis. Copies of the school’s Renewal Booklet will be available in the office from June 2003.
